The practice of medicine among tribal people and villagers in India today, follows the same pattern it did two thousand years ago; there is hardly any change. Wrath of goods, mischief of evil spirits and the magic of human beings forms the basis of medicine during thge Atharvavedic period ; it still remains the basis of tribal and village medicine today. We can trace this medicine in ancient manuscripts such as Atharvaveda, Kautilya's Arthasastra, and even in the Ayurvedic samhitas of Charaka and Susruta, in the writings of Alberuni and the later Muslim and European writers.
